Message to my Constituents
I have been your MP since 1992. I am the link between local issues in Ashfield and Parliament at Westminster. I am as keen as ever to make sure your views and concerns are represented at the highest level in Government.
I am delighted by the many positive developments that Ashfield has seen:
Ashfield's economy is going from strength to strength. The area is now home to many international companies, who value the skills of local people and benefit from excellent transport links. This success is well deserved and I will continue to encourage further investment into the area for the benefit of local people.
Health is a clear priority. The investment in healthcare in Ashfield will see first class facilities coming to the area. Already we have seen the unveiling of the new diagnostic and out-patients centre at King's Mill hospital as part of the £300 million investment. Also, the introduction of the new GP facility with evening and weekend opening times at Ashfield Community Hospital means that more people will be able to see their doctor.
Local schools are experiencing unprecedented levels of success. Record exam results are a sign of the hard work of staff and pupils as well as the government's increased emphasis on prioritising and investing in education. The development in West Nottinghamshire College in the area means that young people will get the opportunity to develop the skills needed in the modern working environment.
Ambitious initiatives to tackle crime and anti-social behaviour are underway. Ashfield's Community Wardens are the latest example of this. Their approach to tackling the underlying reasons for anti-social behaviour compliments the work of our police officers, police community support officers and special constables. Crime is down in Ashfield, and I will continue to liaise with the police, wardens and the community to ensure this trend continues.
There have been many achievements in Ashfield and with projects like King's Mill and West Nottinghamshire College there is still more to come. I always welcome everyone's opinion, so please do contact me.
Thank you for visiting the site.
